At Habitat for Humanity of Orange County we know a few things about housing. We know that our community is facing a crisis in affordable housing and that rising housing costs are forcing untold thousands of families to pay one-half or more of their incomes for housing. Some are doubling and even tripling up into overcrowded homes. The overwhelming cost of housing leaves them precious little left to maintain their jobs, provide a stable school setting for their children and pay for life’s necessities. And we know that despite the generosity of local supporters and partnerships with leaders in faith, business and philanthropy community, the crisis in affordable housing is so severe it overwhelms our ability to do anything more than make a small dent in the demand.
